Trip Introduction; 
The word Lhasa literally means “place of Gods” which beholds a 1,300 year old long history with venerable religious flavor of its own. The capital of Tibet Autonomous region, Lhasa is well known as the roof of the world since it stands at 3,600m above sea level. The beautiful landscapes, centuries old history, unique culture and local customs as well as different religious backgrounds and many places of historical interest are most noted in the “Land of Snows.”

Day 01: Arrive Kathmandu [1345m/4411ft] and Transfer to Hotel
Our airport arrival and departure representative will be at Tribhuwan International Airport on your arrival schedule. You will be transferred to hotel and our staff will help you until check-in procedure ends at Hotel. Either you can have rest at Hotel or visit NGT’s office. In the evening, join our welcome dinner program organized by Nepal Guide Treks & Expedition Team, we also organize a formal program; meet with our guide with full extent of information and discussion regarding our Kathmandu Lhasa and Everest Base Camp Biking Tour.

Day 02: Sightseeing at Kathmandu

We will spend our day sightseeing around some of the attractive world heritage sites within Kathmandu valley. Also, today we will complete all the necessary paper works and other preparations required for Lhasa EBC (Everest Base Camp) Kathmandu Biking Tour with Nepal Guide Treks and Expedition.
It is not possible to visit all world heritage sites in Kathmandu within a day. So you can choose at least 3-4 places for a day sightseeing.

Day 03: Fly from Kathmandu to Lhasa [3650m/11972ft]
We will transfer to Tribhuwan International Airport to have one of the most amazing flight to Lhasa. Within an hour of flight over the Himalayas with great scenery of worlds highest maintain ranges including Mt. Everest reaches at Gongkar Airport of Lhasa. Meet with our airport arrival representative and transfer to Hotel. After check – in and taking rest for a while we will be ready to go for walk around the spiritual heart of Tibet – Barkhor Square.

Day 04: Sightseeing in Lhasa including Norbulingka, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazaar & Drepung Monastery.
Our tour in Lhasa leads by an experienced local guide; first we begin our tour with a visit of Sera Monastery. Then we transferred to the summer palace of Dalai Lama – Norbulingka. Then after, we head towards one of the crucial sacred site of Tibet Jokhang Temple which contains mysterious history of Tibetan Buddhism. Then we further visit to Barkhor Bazaar where we can explore and observe Tibetan art, culture custom and traditions. Full day sightseeing with knowledgeable guide makes you clear several legends and mysterious stories linked with thousands years back.

Day 05: Free for leisure activities; free excursion in Lhasa
We take a leisure day in Lhasa to exploring around the places with more attachments and experience their unique cultural lifestyle.

Day 06: Sightseeing in Lhasa including Drepung Monastery and Potala Palace
Today, we experience sightseeing of two major places; Drepung Monastery and Potala Palace. Potala Palace contains history from 17th century which was private quarter of Dalai Lama, until now protected with few grand state rooms and chapels. Surrounding views during our sightseeing is amazing since the place surrounded with scenic Himalayas. Similarly, we also visit one of the ancient monasteries “Drepung Monastery” built in 14th century with amazing history. The monastery has used by more than ten thousands monks for their shelter of meditation and accommodation.

Day 07: Ride from Lhasa to Chusul 97 km
After complete a couple of days sightseeing in Lhasa, we start our ride towards Chusul. We follow the open and free highway with scenic surrounding views leads us far from Lhasa valley. Finally reach to our guesthouse at Chusul.

Day 08: Ride from Chusul to Nagatse 105 km
After having Breakfast, we start our adventure riding following the road that ascends towards Kamba La Pass. This is hard climb which will takes 2-3 hours. Nevertheless, splendid views of mountains and flouting prayer flags spreads good strength and inspiration. After there, we quickly head towards fast flowing descend all the way to Yamdrok Tso Lake, where we stay for lunch stop. Having rest for a while, we make moderate and scenic ride journey to reach the small town of Nagtse.

Day 09: Ride from Nagatse at Gyantse 100 km
After taking breakfast, we begin our riding journey by facing difficult ascend towards Karola Pass at 5045 meters. Once we reach at the top of the pass, magnificent views of surroundings amazingly provides us extra energy to continue further riding. After having three hours of adventurous ascend, we start heading towards gentle descend towards the heart of Yang Chung Valley Gyantse. Gyantse offers numerous numbers of sightseeing points including Palcho Monastery, Kumbum Stupa, Gyantse Dzong and more.

Day 10: Ride from Gyantse to Shigatse 95 km
Early morning, we make an excursion around Gyantse. After having breakfast, ride through moderate roads across wonderful flats with amazing mountain backdrop. Finally reach the second largest city of Tibet Shigatse. The beautiful town Shigatse was home to the controversial Parchen Lama.

Day 11: Sightseeing around Shigatse
Today, we take a rest and free excursion around Shigatse. Shigatse is a place where we need to obtain necessary paperwork and permits for visiting of Everest Base Camp. Sightseeing around the city with several monasteries including Tashilhunpo monastery makes our day worthwhile.

Day 12: Ride from Shigatse to Lhatse 150 km
After having breakfast, we start our riding journey through rolling terrain of Shigatse Plains. We genteelly follow the gradual ascends before reaching and crossing two scenic passes; Tra La at 4050 meters and Tsuo La at 4520 at meters. After crossing the pass, we ride through awful descends before reaching at our accommodation at Lhatse.

Day 13: Ride from Lhatse to Shegar 85 km
After breakfast, we start the ride that followed by gradually harder through the ridge of Gyatso La. After succeed on gradual strong ascend towards Gyatso La Pass at 5248 meters – the highest pass during our ride, we again head towards Shegar for overnight.

Day 14: Ride from Shegar to Tashi Zom 62 km
Today’s ride can be categorized as one of the hard ride since we need to head through off-roads and ascends towards Himalayan pass. After taking breakfast, we follow the road that turns south side through bumpy roads. A biker with physical stamina and physically fit can easily accomplish it.  Once we reach at the top of the Pang La Pass 5200 meters, amazing views of Mt. Everest and other Himalayan ranges. After the pass, we ride through fast flowing descends takes us into the Rongbuk Valley and finally at our overnight stop at Tashi Zom.

Day 15: Ride from Tashi Zom to Rongbuk 42 km
After breakfast, we ride whole day through off roads, following the jeep trail. Along the route we can continuously have the view of Mt. Everest. Finally reach at our overnight stop at Rongbuk. At evening, we make a short ascend hike to be acclimatized with altitudes. The great views of Mt. Everest visible from our campsite.

Day 16: Ride Rongbuk – Everest Base Camp – Rongbuk 8 km
After breakfast, we make slow and gradual ascend towards Everest Base Camp. Journey is short, just four kilometer, but it takes around two hours, since we need to follow gravel jeep road ascends. Everest Base Camp obviously offers close-up views of splendid mountains. After spending quality time at Everest Base Camp, we back to Rongbuk via the same road. At evening, enjoy the moment with beautiful surrounding views.

Day 17: Ride from Rongbuk to Tingri 70 km
After breakfast, we ride towards Tingri, firstly we head towards a scenic pass of Nam La. Begin our ride through open valley before we reach at Nam La Pass then start following narrow roads all the way to Tingiri. Along the route we can have views of Mt. Everest, Cho Oyu and many other ranges. Tingri is surrounded by Himalayas.

Day 18: Ride from Tingri to Nyalam 75 km
We firstly begin our ride towards Lalung La Pass at 4950 meter before riding down to next scenic pass Shung La Pass at 5200 meter. Those are the last passes we cross during our Lhasa Kathmandu Biking Trip. Along the route, we have great view of Mt. Shishapangma. After there, we start following gradual downhill ride all the way to Nyalam. This is our last overnight in Tibet.

Day 19: Ride cross Nepal-Tibet Border and to Dhulikhel 75 km
After breakfast, as we are leaving Nyalam we also leave Tibet and ride towards Nepal via famous friendship bridge located at Kodari. We finally arrive at Dhulikhel via Barabise, following Sunkishi & Bhotekoshi River bank sides.

Day 20: Ride from Dhulikhel to Kathmandu 20 km
Last day of our biking trip, we head to Kathmandu via Bhaktapur city. Along the route, we can visit world heritage site of UNESCO – Bhaktapur Durbar Square. At evening, free for personal activities. Besides, walking around the shopping streets of Thamel is worth spending quality time at Kathmandu. We will celebrate the successful completion of our Lhasa EBC Kathmandu Biking Tour and have a final meal together in the evening.

Important Info

Skills and Fitness Requires for Mountain Biking Adventure:
Mountain Biking is a best way to explore mountains through adventure riding. Adventure motivated and an experienced biker can easily choose the trip. Bikers should have ability to tackle the ride at least 6-7 hours per day in rough ascends/descends, muddy, dry, loose, bedrock and steeper sections of mountain trails, sometimes while in gradual ascends – have to push the ride. Before planning to have any mountain biking adventure, it is a great idea to do physical fitness activities with daily warm ups, physical workouts, join physical fitness clubs and so on as per your choice. While in mountain biking adventure trip with us, there might arise high altitude sickness since this trip contains comparatively higher altitudes than any other biking trips in around the world. To avoid from such sickness we will provide basic fundamental training which you will have to follow from our biking expert guide.

Autumn (September, October, November) and spring (March, April, May) are considered as a best mountain biking adventure in Nepal. Similarly, the best seasons for mountain biking in Tibet are May, September and October. During those days, the weather would be more clear, sunny and warm in mountain trails. Mountain Biking adventure seeking clients can easily do this trips throughout the year by avoiding monsoon three months (June, July & August).
