Pisang Peak Climbing is one of the most desired trekking destinations at Annapurna Region in Nepal. Pisang Peak (6,091m) is a towering peak above a small village of Pisang. This peak stands in the shape of a Pyramid on the northern border of the Manang Valley. In addition to this, it is also a part of the Annapurna Range towards the east.
There are more than 400 peaks officially open for mountaineering in Nepal among which Pisang Peak is one of the popular climbing peaks. Pisang Peak Trek is relatively moderate. Though it is not a challenging mountain, it does require some serious glacier walking.
The huge piece of rock in the western end makes it rather difficult and the western flank of the mountain has a hanging crevasses Glacier which makes it pretty challenging. The first successful ascent of this Peak was made by The German Expedition Team in 1955.
Pisang Peak Climbing Expedition is the best trekking alternatives to Mera Peak Climbing. This prestigious trekking trail offers you the excellent taste of wider varieties of culture, climate and geography.
The majestic views of Mt. Manaslu (8,163m), Mt. Annapurna II (7,555m), Annapurna IV (7,525m), Gangapurna(7,454m) from the summit of Pisang Peak will occupy your heart and brain lifetime. Mount Pisang has steeply stones covered by ice it which makes us hard to climb, requiring experienced mountaineer to make the successful climb to the summit.
Pisang Peak is considered as an easy peak to climb which provides you with a remarkable experience of passing along various ecosystem, diverse culture and magnificent landscapes. Although the climbing is considered easy you need to have sound physical and mental health to overcome the challenges during the tour. The best season for climbing Pisang Peak is from March-May and September – November which is peak season as well.

During the journey through the highway, you can have a close insight of the lush hillsides at the backdrop in one hand and the activities of the local people, their socio-economic condition on the other. Until a few years back it was only possible to drive only up to Besisahar, headquarter of Lamjung district, but now we can drive up to Chamje because of the expansion of the road. We will spend overnight in a Teahouse after an 8 to 9 hours hectic drive.

5-6 hrs Trek
Chamje is the starting point of our trek. We will set off from Chamje after having breakfast. We will cross the first of many suspension bridges over the Marshyangdi River and move along the trail that passes through the thick forest. We will cross the terraced farmlands at the Manang Region. Then we will climb up the steep and rocky trail towards the village of Tal and Karte before crossing the landslide affected area. Walking past the village prayer wheel and moving onwards and upwards through grassy trails, we will be at Dharapani, a Gurung Village.
Now we will have to move on a trail that is largely affected by the landslide. We will move across a village observing the remote lives. Then we will move on a gradual uphill trail all the way to Bagarchhap, a typical Tibetan style village through the forest. From here we will trek along the left bank of the river towards Koto. This is the gateway to the popular Naar Phu Valley Trekking. The trail from here onwards is easy to Chame. Chame is the main administrative hub of Manang.
We will now trek to upper Pisang, a small village along the bank of Marsyangdi River. At first, we will move towards Bharatang and continue moving along the bank of Marshyangdi River. Then we will cross the suspension bridge and climb up the trail to Dhikur Pokhari. We will walk through a beautiful coniferous forest and a small settlement of mountain people until we arrive at Pisang. On arriving Pisang, we will have an astonishing view of Pisang Peak and Annapurna II.
This day has a very important role to make our mountain expedition successful. It is very necessary to spend a day for acclimatization before we attempt high altitude ascent to prevent ourselves from High Altitude Sickness. We set up gears and enjoy rehearsal climb to the nearby places. We can have mind-blowing views of Annapurna, Gangapurna and Tilicho Peak from here.
3-4 hrs Trek
Our excitement towards the peak will come nearer today. We will walk towards the base camp after having breakfast. We will move along the trail through sparse woods towards pasture called Kharka. This is the best place for setting up tents. This tranquil site and the virgin natural beauty will occupy a special place in your brain. On progressing through the trail along the levelled ground we will be at the foot of Pisang Peak.
3-4 hrs Climb
Leaving the Pisang Peak Base Camp we will move further up slowly and steadily. It will take about 3 to 4 hours to reach the High Camp for us. After reaching The High Camp of Pisang Peak, we will quickly set up camp and make necessary arrangements for climbing equipment. Our climbing experts will check thoroughly if everyone is well acclimatized for climbing the summit. We will spend some time at the camp then explore the surrounding areas.
7-8 hrs Climb & Trek
Today we will head towards conquering the summit. From the high camp through well-defined ridge we will lead you up to the final snow slope. The climbing is quite steep and technical. Our Guide will fix the rope and lead you towards the summit of Pisang Peak. On reaching the summit, we will have best views of Tranquil and delicate mountains like Annapurna, Tilicho Peak, and Glacier dome. After conquering the summit we will walk down to the base camp retracing our own footsteps.
From here we will head towards Pisang Village and continue towards Manang Village walking along the river. All the way you will eat and breathe mountains. After completing a steady trek of 5/6 hours, you will be at Manang, a typically significant place for its distinct culture, people and history.
3-4 hrs Trek
After having a blissful stay at Manang, we will set off from the village after having breakfast. At first, we will climb up the hill which gradually gets steeper the more we ascend high. Continuing the walk through the alpine landscape with high altitude vegetation and forest, we come across the summer pasture area of Yak Kharka. This village is a small settlement established as a stopover place for the Annapurna Circuit trekkers
Today we will move towards Thorong Phedi. Thorong Phedi is the base camp of the prestigious Thorong La Pass in Manang. From Yak Kharka, we will start our walk towards Thorong Phedi early in the morning. At the beginning of our walk, we will ascend steep downhill before we start our ascent up to the river. Along the trail, you can enjoy the stunning views of Mt. Gundang, Mt. Syagang, Thorong Peak and Mt. Khatungkan. Once we reach Thorang Phedi, we will take a walk around the area. We spend overnight at the base of Thorong Phedi.
7-8 hrs Trek
We will begin our trekking early in the morning with the aim to cross the challenging Thorong La Pass before midday. This is the most important day of our trek. The pass is a challenging one but it will offer you superb mountain views. We will be rewarded with the most appealing scene of Mt. Annapurna and many other mountains of greater heights. Besides that the prayer flags, few tea houses make the place rather beautiful. Few parts of the rocky trails towards the pass are weaker. The fierce blow of the air at the summit of the pass is mind hovering. We will spend some quality time here. Then we will trek down to Muktinath. Muktinath which is also known as Mukti Kshetra is a famous pilgrimage for both Hindus and Buddhists.
This is yet another memorable and must do a trek of our Pisang Peak Expedition. We are now at the sacred land of Muktinath. The place is also known to many as the Mukti Kshetra, the land of salvation. We can have a bathe in the 108 waterspouts in the Muktinath and we can also enjoy the never-ending flame in front of the temple. We will also stroll around Muktinath Temple and enjoy the scene at the backdrop. After getting many blessings of holy Muktinath, we will take a short drive to Jomsom for the overnight stay.
25 min Flight
This will be another wonderful day of our Pisang Peak Trip. We will catch an early morning flight from Jomsom to Pokhara. Pokhara is the most beautiful city in Nepal. Pokhara is the one and only city in Nepal which has so many worths visiting places. Emerald Lakes, Amazing Caves, Century-old Famous temples, Davis Falls, all are just amazing. We spend the rest of the time visiting these landmarks. The reflection of Machhapuchhre on the heart of serene Phewa Lake is just spellbound.
5-6 hrs Drive
After having breakfast we will drive back to Kathmandu through Prithivi Highway. We will pass through many small villages and towns. On the way back to Kathmandu we will have plenty of time to observe the rural life, beautiful hills and Trishuli River that flows under. You will be lured by the rafting activities in the Trishuli River.
Today would be a spare day after a tiring journey. You can either have leisure for resting or your appetite for exploring Kathmandu would be revisited. We can resume our sightseeing around Kathmandu. We will visit the remaining sites which were not possible on the second day. Besides, walking around the busy streets of Thamel would also be the best time pass. It is hard to articulate how lucky and thankful I am that I walked into Nepal Guide Treks & Expedition Office from the first moment and first cup of tea I was treated with respect and honesty. There are so many trekking companies in KTM, it is almost impossible to know who to trust, my instinct, after visiting countless agencies, told me Prakash would make my trip memorable. He far and away exceeded my expectations; I first did the Annapurna Circuit Trek, what a way to first see Nepal! My guide was Rajan, he made me feel night at home and gave me such an? inside? look at the scenery and Culture, I was then supposed to leave Nepal and travel to China. However I had such a great time on my first trek, I decided to stay and climb the Island Peak and do an Everest region trek. Prakash custom scheduled a trip for me. In a word, it was amazing! Again, Rajan was my guide for the trek. Ang Dawa was my climbing guide. I cannot say enough how much fun Island Peak Was. I have been travelling for quite a while and Prakash and Nepal Guide Treks are truly the capstones of my trip. Please feel free to email me with any questions or more info.
Id love to talk about my adventures!
We are two persons who climbed Pisang Peak together with Nepal Guide Treks. It was cold in nights but very good weather and surrounding. Climbing to the top was difficult with many loose stones but was amazing. Our planning includes choosing one more peak climbing here in Nepal. The food and the team were totally fantastic. We recommend Nepal Guide Treks !!
